Amsterdam Law School LLM focuses on the confluence of European and International Law

For students considering a career that traverses both international and European law, the University of Amsterdam Law School recognises this increasingly important dual focus.  The LLM in European and Internaitonal Law is structured to allow for a number of optional courses to be taken along side a mandatory core course schedule.  This structure also allows for specialisation in either International or European law, while taking into account their common foundation. The programme seeks to develop a substantial understanding of the theory and practice underlying both distinct fields and their increasing interconnectivity.

The teaching methods and evaluations focus on developing writing, analytical and communicative skills, as well as knowledge of Black Letter Law. To this end greater emphasis is placed on written and oral assignments than on traditional exams.

The faculty includes highly qualified international and European lawyers. During their time at the Law School, students are exposed to a wide range of international institutions and assisted in securing internships and other career opportunities during and after completion of the programme.

The LLM programme in International and European Law offers four tracks:

    * European Union Law
    * European Union Business Law
    * International Trade and Investment Law
    * Public International Law
