Overview
Leeds Law SchoolLeeds Law School offers you the opportunity to study in the heart of the legal quarter of England’s largest legal city outside of London.

Leeds is the second largest legal city in England outside of London.  Over 180 law firms are based in the city, employing in excess of 8000 professionals. It is home to firms specialising in all aspects of legal work, including top ranking UK and international law firms.

More jobs have been created in Leeds than in any other UK city outside London over the past two decades.  It is the UK’s fastest growing city.

Postgraduate courses offered at Leeds Law School:

Student legal life at the Law School
We pride ourselves on close connections with law firms in the region.  They engage with us through guest lectures, mentoring schemes, networking events, delivering career development sessions and by judging and providing prizes for a number of legal competitions.  These all provide opportunities for you to meet legal employers.  Recent speakers in our guest lecture series have included representatives from organisations such as Eversheds, Pinsent Masons and the Crown Prosecution Service, amongst many others.

We have our own courtroom where students refine their mooting skills and compete both internally and externally in national mooting competitions.

We have a buoyant Student Law Society and our Streetlaw project allows students to deliver interactive presentations or workshops to community groups on a wide range of legal issues, helping them to be more aware of their rights.  Leeds Law School students have recently been working with local secondary schools looking at issues as diverse as citizenship, youth justice and consumer rights.

Study Facilities
Leeds Law School is located at Cloth Hall Court, in the heart of the city’s legal district, enabling close partnerships with Leeds Law Society and professional firms in the city.  These are exciting times to join Leeds Law School - in 2012 we celebrate our 70th anniversary of delivering legal education in Leeds.

Facilities at Leeds Law School include a modern lecture theatre, a mock court room and dedicated resource room for postgraduate students. Access to online materials like Lexis and Westlaw is excellent and this, together with wide-ranging periodicals and books, enables you to keep in touch with the latest developments in law.

Teaching and Research
Teaching staff at Leeds Law School have extensive links with the legal world as consultants, researchers, directors, and members of public, professional and private bodies, commissions and societies. They are actively involved in research and writing and in contributing to academic and professional societies and conferences.  Our law research unit has an established research community embracing issues of national and international concern.

Careers
Our students gain employment regionally and nationally. Graduates have moved on to professional practice in the private or public sectors. A number proceed with further study for a PhD.
