Nottingham Law School
Nottingham Law School, part of Nottingham Trent University, is one of the largest university law schools in the UK. We enjoy a national and international reputation for our teaching excellence and strong links with a number of leading law firms.
Here at Nottingham Law School we cater for every step of your legal training, from undergraduate and conversion courses, to professional, Masters, research, and practitioner programmes.
Professional courses
For non-law graduates, Nottingham Law School offers the opportunity to pursue qualifying law degree status through the Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL) by both full-time and distance-learning study routes. This intensive course effectively covers the seven core subjects of an undergraduate law degree and is the stepping stone to the Legal Practice Course (LPC) or the Bar Professional Training Course (BPTC) and a legal career thereafter.
For those training to become a solicitor or barrister, the School offers the Legal Practice Course (LPC) and the Bar Professional Training Course (BPTC) (formerly BVC). Our LPC has received the highest possible rating in every Law Society/SRA assessment and we are one of only nine educational establishments validated by the Bar Council to deliver the BPTC. Nottingham Law School students benefit from the support of a dedicated careers service and have the opportunity to gain valuable practical experience as part of our award-winning pro bono project.
We have a proven track record in graduate employability. Our focus on practical skills and the careers and recruitment service has helped to keep our training contract and pupillage rates consistently high.
Masters programmes
The School offers a highly flexible and innovative range of postgraduate Masters courses in a variety of subject areas. Students are able to 'build' their own programme by selecting modules to suit their own interests. This approach enables students to obtain either a Single, Joint or Major / Minor LLM award which reflects their own specialism.
Some of the programmes are suitable for applicants from a non-legal background, such as the LLM in Health Law, Sports Law and International Criminal Justice. Scholarships are normally available for this programme and are equivalent to up to half the UK/EU fees.
