Utrecht law students score well in Fulbright scholarships

Utrecht University logoSeven Fulbright scholarships, out of a total of 26 available, have been landed by Utrecht University, four of which by the School of Law.

All four law students will be heading for the States this coming year, where they have received offers from top universities: bachelor student Kirsten Boele, is going to specialise in cultural anthropology at the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona. Alumna Chébti, now working as a judge’s assistant at the Netherlands Supreme Court, will be continuing her studies at Georgetown University in Washington DC. And Master’s student in Legal Research Bart Smit Duijzentkunst, who also won a VSB grant, will be studying Law at Tufts University, Massachusetts. Marianne Hirsch Ballin, PhD student at the School of Law since 2007, won the only PhD grant for Utrecht University. She will be specialising in criminology at DePaul University in Chicago.

Utrecht University ranks among the top ten European universities according to the Shanghai Ranking, while the Law programme is consistently named as one of the top two Law programmes in The Netherlands in an annual peer ranking conducted by Elsevier (a leading Dutch current affairs magazine).
