Miami Law’s Intensive Legal English Program helps students succeed in LLM
Miami Law has launched a new LLM with Intensive Legal English Program to help international student with their legal studies. During the first semester of this course, students focus on achieving the English language and communication skills necessary to be successful in the LLM program. Once they have successfully completed this semester, the students move on to join the International Law LLM class and proceed with the regular course of studies.
Lorena Senra from Spain is one of eight students on the Intensive English Program's inaugural class, having moved on from the English proficiency semester to study the LLM in Entertainment, Arts and Sports Law program. The Director of the International Graduate Law Programs at Miami Law, Carmen Perez-Llorca, explains, “Lorena is a great example of the type of student that this program attracts: talented, motivated, and ready to work hard. The LLM with Intensive English Program opened doors for her that will change the course of her career.”
Speaking about her course, Lorena says, "Academically, the program helped me to become more proficient in English and improve my legal vocabulary. It also taught me specific skills necessary for law school, such as debating and the American style of writing. But the best part of the Intensive English Program is meeting people from different countries."
