New LLM programmes at Glasgow School of Law

University of Glasgow School of LawLaunching the School's NEW LLM Programme
From September 2009, postgraduate law students may study for an LLM in Corporate and Financial Law at the School of Law. This new programme complements the School's LLM programmes in International Commercial Law, International Competition Law and Policy and International Law. The courses offered under the new LLM programme include: Commercial Banking; Corporate Finance; Corporate Governance; Corporate Restructuring; Debt Finance and Security; Financial Regulation; International Capital Market Regulation; International Merger Control; and Investment Structures and Funds. New… Conflict Aspects of Commercial Law LLM
No lawyer practising today can afford to be ignorant of the rules of civil and commercial jurisdiction and judgment enforcement. This course, to be introduced in 2009–10 as an important addition to the courses offered in the LLM in International Commercial Law, will allow students to study current developments in UK and European law concerning allocation of jurisdiction, problems of conflicting jurisdiction, judgment enforcement and related topics, and choice of law in the important commercial areas of contract, delict/tort, property and insolvency. The course will equip students to advise not only on where a right can be pursued, but also where and how it can be enforced. These topics form part of a rapidly moving area of law with great commercial importance. Controversies abound; do not miss the opportunity to get up to speed on the talked-about cases of Gasser, Owusu, and Turner.
