Nottingham to host Summer School on Protecting Human Rights through United Nations Mechanisms

The Human Rights Law Centre at the University of Nottingham will be running a Summer School on Protecting Human Rights through United Nations Mechanisms from 13th-17th June 2011.

This summer school will give participants an insider’s understanding of the mechanisms of the UN systems, and will equip them with ways to best handle the system for the protection of human rights.

Sessions will cover the Human Rights treaty bodies, the Human Rights Council’s Universal Periodic Review Procedure, Special Procedures, and the work of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights and its field presences.

The Summer School on Protecting Human Rights through United Nations Mechanisms is aimed broadly at professionals in non-governmental organisations, national human rights institutions, government, international governmental organisations, field operations, and interested academics and students.
