Summary
Our LLM in Human Rights Law reflects an area of law that is critical in providing the frameworks necessary to protect the dignity of humans around the world. It offers you an opportunity to graduate and meet a growing demand for specialist lawyers that have human rights experience and knowledge - and a determination to tackle human rights violations.
The LLM in Human Rights Law offers in-depth, intensive study of institutions and mechanisms at the international and regional levels, as well as more specialist areas such as employment law, mental health law and law around migrant workers, with a variety of related optional units to choose from.
Choosing the LLM in Human Rights Law means being challenged and inspired by academics from the Human Rights Implementation Centre, globally renowned for its groundbreaking research and work across the world. The centre offers many opportunities for students to gain knowledge and experience in human rights law and practice, including participation in the Human Rights Law Clinic.

| Entry requirements | An upper second-class honours degree in law. Applicants who do not have a law degree but have obtained a 2:1 in at least three modules/units related to law or human rights can be considered. Previous or professional experience is not required. Recognised Prior Learning is not currently accepted. For applicants who are currently completing a degree, we understand that their final grade may be higher than the interim grades or module/unit grades they achieve during their studies. We will consider applicants whose interim grades are currently slightly lower than the programme's entry requirements. We may make these applicants an aspirational offer. This offer would be at the standard level, so the applicant would need to achieve the standard entry requirements by the end of their degree. Specific module requirements may still apply. We will consider applicants whose grades are slightly lower than the programme's entry requirements, if they have a relevant postgraduate qualification. If this is the case, applicants should include their CV (curriculum vitae / résumé) when they apply, showing details of their relevant qualifications.
