Summary

This programme offers you the opportunity to obtain an advanced qualification that is both academically rigorous and professionally beneficial. Drawing on both the civil and common-law traditions, it combines the comparative study of the modern development in key areas of private law, and also the dynamics of European harmonisation initiatives. It is particularly suited to those who have studied a range of private law subjects at undergraduate level, although it is also open to those whose undergraduate law degree has combined other specialisations.

The programme consists of 180 credits, comprising taught courses worth 120 credits (60 credits per semester) and a 10,000 word dissertation worth 60 credits. The core courses listed below are for the 2018/19 academic year - please visit the Law School's website for further details.

During your studies you will be able to choose from the following core courses.
- Contract Law in Europe (40 Credits)

- International Private Law: Jurisdiction and Enforcement of Judgments (20 Credits)

- Delict and Tort (20 Credits)

- Comparative Property Law (20 Credits)

- Comparative and International Trust Law (20 Credits)

- Fundamentals of Comparative Private Law (20 Credits)
