The University of Notre Dame is located about 90 miles east of Chicago, Illinois, and just north of downtown South Bend, Indiana. Notre Dame Law School is located in the heart of the University’s beautiful 1,250-acre campus. The campus features graduate housing, serene lakes, trees that bring a different kind of beauty each season, and, of course, our famous Golden Dome.
The LL.M. at Notre Dame provides an opportunity to study the legal system of the United States in a traditional U.S. law school environment. It equips international students with a fundamental understanding of American law and culture as they enter the global legal market.
Notre Dame Law School values the diversity that international LL.M. students bring to the law school community. International students are fully integrated into the Law School’s curriculum and culture as they attend classes and take part in student activities with their U.S. classmates.
Our small class sizes permit individual attention and personalized programs. More than simply bar preparation, the LL.M. at Notre Dame prepares international students for practice and life in the United States and beyond. We offer a four-week summer Legal English program to assist international students adjust to academic life in our Law School.
All students have access to the core curriculum of the Law School, and may choose to concentrate their studies in a variety of specializations by taking advanced courses offered in the J.D. program. Learn more about our programs of study, which include course recommendations by our expert faculty.
Our Career Development Office provides support to our LL.M. students as they plan their next career step. The University of Notre Dame has one of the most vibrant alumni networks in the world. Notre Dame Law School offers merit scholarships to qualified LL.M. applicants. Select students in the LL.M. program with exceptional academic performance may be eligible to apply as transfer students to Notre Dame Law School’s J.D. program.
