Buckingham offers Master of Laws exploring security and diplomacy
The University of Buckingham is offering a Master of Laws in International Law, Security and Diplomacy that gives students a legal, strategic and professional perspective in security and diplomacy.
This LLM degree program has been designed for students who want to understand the rules of international law and the real-world forces that shape how those rules are interpreted, applied and contested. The course will explore questions about the laws surrounding armed conflict, human rights, cyber security, terrorism and diplomacy.
The course has been developed and is taught jointly by Buckingham Law School and the Centre for Security and Intelligence Studies (BUCSIS), bringing together International Law, the Law of War and International and Comparative Human Rights Law with BUCSIS modules in Cyber Security and Globalisation, Diplomacy, and Terrorism and National Security.
The LLM in International Law, Security and Diplomacy enables students to connect legal doctrine with questions at the centre of international decision-making, including:
- How armed force is regulated
- How rights are protected
- How cyber threats cross borders
- How states and institutions respond to terrorism and national security concerns
- How diplomacy operates when law and policy meet
