New LLM cohort starts at Penn Carey Law

Penn Carey LawThe University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School has welcomed its 2027 cohort of Master of Laws students – 130 lawyers from 35 countries, regions and territories.

Assistant Dean for Graduate Programs, Helen Rho, says, “The Class of 2027 is remarkably talented, hard-working and driven. They also care about others, making time to mentor, volunteer, and participate in pro bono legal work.”

The incoming LLM class is a diverse group made up of government officials, two Fulbright Scholars, lawyers, legal tech experts, and more.

They are all fully trained as attorneys in their home countries, and speak at least two languages, with a few who speak up to six!

This year, Penn Carey Law received over 1100 applications from applicants who earned their first degree in law in 75 different countries, territories and regions. The full-time LLM program is designed for lawyers trained outside of the US, with the general degree allowing students to customise their curriculum to focus on a specific area of law, with two concentrations –Intellectual Property and Technology Law, and Energy, Security, and Human Rights.
