Summary

Explore the differences in laws and governance in countries across the globe. You'll examine how countries respond to economic and social pressures. You'll assess these approaches in times of economic stability and crisis, with a particular focus on corporate governance and commercial transactions. In doing so, you'll develop a strong understanding of how corporate governance operates.

Work through realistic legal scenarios with problem-based learning (PBL). We are the only law school in the UK to use PBL as the basis of our teaching. Under the guidance of expert tutors, you'll work in small student law firms to tackle complex corporate commercial transactions. These scenarios are developed in consultation with legal practitioners. This modern, hands-on method allows you to understand the complexity of legal scenarios and how different areas of the law can overlap.

Study what you're passionate about. You'll develop core legal skills, such as research, document analysis and legal writing as well as your commercial awareness. You'll also choose from a range of option modules, allowing you to specialise in the areas of commercial law that interest you most.

Build your legal network through career-focused events and opportunities. During your studies, you'll have access to York Law School's Careers and Development Programme. This programme offers a range of employability-focused events and support throughout the year. This includes various networking events with law firms and York Law School alumni.
