Commonwealth Scholarships are open for applications
Applications for Commonwealth Scholarships are currently open for applications to study in the academic year 2026/27 and will be closing on Tuesday 14th October 2026.
Commonwealth Scholarships are fully funded scholarships that are awarded to talented individuals from Commonwealth countries who have the potential to make a positive impact on the global stage. As part of this funding program, every year around 700 students who would not otherwise be able to afford to study in the UK are given the chance to undertake postgraduate degrees with UK universities.
There are several types of Commonwealth Scholarships that you can apply for, these include:
- Commonwealth Masters Scholarships
- Commonwealth PhD Scholarships
- Commonwealth Distance Learning Scholarships
- Commonwealth Split-site Scholarships
- Commonwealth Shared Scholarships
- Commonwealth Professional Fellowships
These scholarships are all offered under six development themes.
- Science and technology for development
- Strengthening health systems and capacity
- Promoting global prosperity
- Strengthening global peace, security and governance
- Strengthening resilience and response to crises
- Access, inclusion and opportunity
Although there is no restriction on what you can study, priority is given to applicants whose studies are most relevant to their development criteria.
