Summary
Our Master of Laws (LLM) degree will enable students who have achieved a degree in Law (or related subject) to study Law at Master’s level. This will give students an extensive and critical understanding of Criminal Law and the Criminal Justice System, looking at contemporary issues and practice.
You will develop your research, academic writing, critical thinking, and employability skills whilst studying different aspects of Criminal Law and Criminal Justice. Indicative modules include Theory of Criminal Justice, Criminal Law, Criminal Evidence and Litigation, International Criminal Law, and Domestic and Global Terrorism. You will also complete a dissertation on an area of your choice, supported by our expert academics. Moreover, at the end of your Master’s degree you will have the option to complete a specialist preparation course for the first Solicitors’ Qualifying Examination.
There are many extra-curricular opportunities you can be involved in, that could include pro bono work, mediation, work experience in a law firm or mini pupillage, in addition to participating in mooting competitions, client interviewing competitions, or contributing to the University of Chichester Student Law Review.
This degree will enable students to prepare for graduate employment. It can lead to several career opportunities within the Criminal Justice System, and within Law more widely. For example, working as a solicitor or barrister, for the Prison or Probation Service, within the Court and Tribunals Service, or for the Crown Prosecution Service or Police.
