The Masters in Law (General LLM) provides a challenging general legal education at graduate level.
**WHY THIS PROGRAMME**
- If you are interested in law generally but have not identified a particular area of speciality, this programme gives you some flexibility and choice. You can construct your own programme of law studies drawn from the full range of courses on offer.
- You will benefit from our excellent facilities including the dedicated School of Law library; our main University library also contains our extensive collection of legal materials and official publications and is a European Documentation Centre.
- We have a very vibrant mooting programme and a dedicated Moot Courtroom. We have an outstanding record of success and you can participate in internal, national and international mooting competitions.
- We organise a series of lectures featuring talks from highly successful judges and lawyers.
- Law at Glasgow is ranked 3rd in the UK by the Good University Guide 2025 and 8th in the UK by the Complete University Guide 2026.
**PROGRAMME STRUCTURE**
You will take six courses and submit a dissertation as falling within the area. Courses are delivered through a blend of lectures and seminar-style teaching.
For the Law LLM, you can choose any courses within the School of Law's LLM portfolio to suit your academic objectives and to build on your knowledge for future employment or academic specialisation. Please note, enrolment on courses is subject to availability and timetabling.
For the dissertation, you can choose between a written dissertation or a collaborative dissertation research project with a partner organisation. Please note, the collaborative dissertation option is subject to availability.
**CAREER PROSPECTS**
You will be well placed for roles in the legal profession as a lawyer, solicitor or advocate in law firms, government agencies or other organisations.
