Nottingham Law School

With over 50 years' experience supporting students in the legal sector, we are one of the UK's largest and most established law schools. Delivering first-class teaching, fantastic facilities and flexible courses, we support legal professionals at every stage of their careers.

We pride ourselves on our dynamic and personal law school community, creating many fantastic opportunities for our students. The Nottingham Law School Legal Advice Centre (LAC), our unique and ground-breaking teaching law firm, provides a number of pro bono activities and sees student volunteers working on real-life cases through the centre, providing a vital service to those who would not otherwise have access to justice. Our LAC received two awards at the Modern Law Awards 2020, winning both ABS of the Year and Paralegal of the Year – awarded to caseworker, Callum Scott.

Other school community activities include mooting, volunteering, work experience, overseas placements, summer schools, guest lectures, careers skills workshops, professional and networking lunches, prize-giving ceremonies and much more.

Our wide range of facilities include replica courtrooms, a £13 million library, over 7,000 computer workstations and newly refurbished buildings that ensure our students have the best learning environment possible. The award-winning Legal Advice Centre is the only Free Representation Unit (FRU) outside of London, and we hold regular conferences, law fairs, and guest lectures throughout the year.

Our courses are accredited or approved by a range of professional bodies, including the:

  • Solicitors Regulation Authority
  • Bar Standards Board
  • Intellectual Property Regulation Board
  • Chartered Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys.

We are active in many areas of legal research including business and insolvency law, mediation and dispute resolution, advocacy, and legal education.

Our extensive links with the legal and other professions both at home and overseas reflect and inform the design of our course portfolio and ensure that we continue to lead the way in legal education.
