Elena Morecroft, LLM, BPP Law School

Elena Morecroft came to London from Belarus to study law, and was delighted when she was awarded a £500 study bursary from Postgrad Solutions. She is currently studying a Master of Laws programme at BPP Law School in London and speaking of her choice of institution says, “The Law School was of a particular appeal to me not only because of its excellent reputation for rigorous and first-class teaching, but also because of its commitment to make education fun, interactive and flexible in delivery.”
Elena was keen to get involved with the practical side of studying law as well as gaining the academic knowledge – and the course at BPP Law School is ideal for this. She says, “Studying at BPP has allowed me to put my legal knowledge into practice by working through the problems one may face in practice. I have been greatly impressed with the standards and quality of teaching.”
She continues, “During my LLM course I have been involved with the BPP Pro Bono Centre through their Hackney Law Centre in London. I have advised people of their rights when facing difficult situations in life, ranging from debt, and consumer to employment cases. This has been an incredible learning experience for me, whilst making a contribution to the local community. I am now working as a legal adviser at HMCTS and advising magistrates on law and procedure in court on a day-to-day basis.”
This hands-on experience is exactly what Elena was looking for when she left her homeland of Belarus to come and study in the UK.
The bursary from Postgrad Solutions has allowed Elena to concentrate more on her studying and legal work, and worry less about her finances. She explains, “Obtaining funding for studies can be a difficult task and I am extremely grateful to Postgraduate Solutions for giving me this exciting opportunity to undertake the LLM programme at one of the leading law schools in London. Being one of the winners this year makes me feel absolutely over the moon!”
