The 5th Annual East Africa International Arbitration Conference (EAIAC) is taking place on Thursday 28th and Friday 29th September 2017 at the Serena Kigali in Rwanda. The conference is being co-organised by Wairimu Karanja, a Kenyan lawyer and Centre for Energy, Petroleum and Mineral Law and Policy (CEPMLP) postgraduate student and co-hosted by the Kigali International Arbitration Centre (KIAC).
The conference has CLE Accreditation in Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania and Uganda.
Some of the topics to be covered at EAIAC 2017 include:
East Africa's economic opportunities and their fundamentals
Damages in International Arbitration (determination, awards and quantum)
Specialist issues like arbitration funding and expert witnesses
Addressing tough questions in international arbitration, including Africa’s place in investment and international arbitration, cultural issues and bias
Preparing Africa's next generation of International Arbitrators
