University of Strathclyde Children, Evil and the Law Lecture 26 March 2020

March 26, 2020

University of StrathclydeThe Faculty of Humanities & Social Sciences at the University of Strathclyde is presenting a lecture on “Children, Evil and the Law” on Thursday 26th March 2020, at 5.30pm.

This lecture – delivered by Professor Claire McDiarmid, Professor of Law and Head of School of Law – will consider the way in which serious crimes committed by children are often embedded in a narrative of evil. Using examples such as the 1993 Bulger case, this lecture will explore the way in which the concept of evil interacts with that of childhood in the context of the criminal justice system. Considering how children, evil and the law all tend to pull in opposing directions, this lecture will look at how they all actually come together.

Location: University of Strathclyde, Technology and Innovation Centre, 99 George Street, Glasgow, G1 1RD.
