Albany Law School launches LLM in Financial Compliance & Risk Management
Albany Law School is delighted to announce the launch of online programs in financial compliance and risk management.
The online programs in Financial Compliance and Risk Management will be offered in three tracks – as an LLM concentration for US or international law school graduates; as a Master of Science (MSc) in Legal Studies concentration; or as an advanced professional certificate. Areas of study will include Financial Crimes; Cybersecurity, Data Privacy, Technology, and Financial Markets; The Compliance Officer: Risk Management and Compliance Obligations; and Introduction to Bank Regulation.
President and Dean of Albany Law School, Alicia Ouellette, says, “Albany Law School has a long history of preparing leaders in the financial services sector. Our graduates have served in legal, risk and compliance, and business roles at a range of organisations and institutions, both nationally and internationally. These programs make full use of our standing and experience, allowing ambitious professionals to earn a credential that will enhance their careers."
Meanwhile Albany Law Professor and Director of the Institute for Financial Market Regulation, Christine Sgarlata Chung, explains, "Skilled compliance professionals and risk managers play an essential role maintaining fair, orderly, and efficient financial markets. Trained professionals in this area – in the growing, evolving financial services industry – are in high demand."
Students on these new online courses will be taught by professors and practitioners, including compliance officers and former US Securities and Exchange Commission officials, all with unique expertise in finance.
Jason Fiske, Assistant Dean for Program Development and Distance Education comments, "Albany Law School is uniquely situated to deliver a world-class Financial Compliance and Risk Management program. As the only law school in New York's capital, we are able to leverage the vast array of opportunities and intellectual resources that the state has to offer in the financial services sector."
The new LLM and masters degree can each be completed in just one year, whilst the professional certificate program can be completed in one semester. Applications are currently being accepted for the first three cohorts, which have start dates of Monday 19th August 2019, Monday 21st October 2019 and Monday 13th January 2020. The application deadline is Monday 29th July for students who want to start their online program in August.
