Applications open for PhD research studentships at Kent Law School

University of KentApplications are now open for PhD research studentships 2021/22 at Kent Law School.

The prestigious new 'Next Generation Law Doctoral Scholarships' will be awarded to up to two candidates with research proposals of the highest quality. Kent Law School is particularly interested in proposals in socio-legal studies, law and the humanities, and critical approaches to law.

Kent Law School is a pioneer in legal research and was one of the first UK law schools to offer postgraduate research degrees. The Next Generation Law Scholarships will be targeted to support more students from under-represented backgrounds to undertake doctoral degrees. For this reason one of the Next Generation Law Scholarships will be reserved for a UK-based candidate of Black or mixed-Black heritage, meanwhile the other scholarship is open to all UK and International candidates.

The scholarship covers course fees (at the Home/EU and International rate) and will provide a stipend for living costs at the UK research council rate (at least £15,285 per year). Applicants for the scholarship must first apply for admission to the PhD or LLM by Research degree. Those awarded a scholarship are not required to teach, however all doctoral students will have the opportunity to undertake paid teaching on an undergraduate law module.

The deadline for scholarship applications is Monday 15th February 2021.
