Birmingham Law School offers LLM scholarship covering tuition fees and £6,000 towards maintenance
Birmingham Law School has announced the launch of the Kalisher Trust scholarship to cover tuition fees and £6,000 maintenance costs for LLM students starting their program in 2021.
This great funding opportunity is for students on the LLM Criminal Law and Criminal Justice pathway or the LLM (General) pathway, and is funded by the Kalisher Trust and Birmingham Law School.
To be eligible to apply for the Kalisher Trust scholarship, applicants must meet the academic entry requirements of the Birmingham LLM, as well as the following eligibility criteria:
- Be resident in the UK and classed as UK/Ireland for fee purposes.
- Demonstrate intellectual ability.
- Have motivation to succeed at the Criminal Bar.
- Show potential as an advocate.
- Demonstrate financial need.
- Be self-funded and not be in receipt of any other sources of funding.
Andrew Fisher QC from the Kalisher Trust, explains, "The Kalisher Trust has been working toward greater access to the Criminal Bar for those with talent for more than 25 years. We support young people from diverse backgrounds as they seek a career in the profession; and we do so across England and Wales. We work with schools from some of the most deprived areas to ensure that no matter what your background, ambition can drive achievement.”
He continues, “Our partnership with the University of Birmingham has led to the scholarships for those at masters level; each year, a competitive process allows us to identify those with ability; we provide a maintenance grant and the tuition fees are waived, thus reducing debt and allowing our award-holder to explore the Law at postgraduate level. We are delighted to continue this work with the University, and look forward to the applications for the 2021 award.”
The closing date for applications is 5pm BST on Monday 24th May 2021.
