New Kent Law Clinic to be opened by Deputy President of UK Supreme Court
Right Honourable the Baroness Hale of Richmond, Deputy President of the UK Supreme Court, will be opening the new £5 million Law Clinic at the University of Kent on Thursday 6th October 2016. Baroness Hale will then deliver a keynote speech “Human Rights and Social Justice” in the Woolf lecture theatre at 6pm.
The Wigoder Law Building will be the new home for the Kent Law Clinic and is positioned between Eliot and Rutherford colleges. It includes a new Moot Chamber built in the style of a court room to help students practice their advocacy skills in a professional setting.
Kent Law Clinic offers free legal advice to the local community, and under the direction of Clinic Director, Professor John Fitzpatrick, law students have helped clients gain millions of pounds in compensation in employment law cases and brought landmark cases in asylum law.
