USC Gould highlights the history and future of white collar crime
Are you interested in white collar crime? It’s fair to say that this area of crime is as old as business, and many a business and businessman has been swindled out of vast sums of money over the years. As the world grows more sophisticated, so too do the criminals’ ways to steal money, as scammers come up with innovative new ways to steal, including insider trading, kickbacks and money laundering.
White collar crime is currently treated as a property crime, and jail sentences are often light or non-existent, however it looks like the law may be about to change. And while there will always be white collar criminals, prevention and punishment will go a long way to stopping it.
