Coventry law students have opportunity to contribute legal services to community
Students at Coventry University Law School have the opportunity to put their law studies into practice through their own Law Clinic: Coventry Legal Advice Service (CLAS).
CLAS fulfills three main aims:
• it contributes towards meeting the need for legal services in the community
• it promotes the University’s links with the local community
• it offers law students the opportunity to gain practical legal experience
Students may obtain credits for CLAS and approved placement they have arranged with a firm of solicitors or legal services body through the CLAS programme.
The Law Clinic operates from the Hope Centre, a local charity from which CLAS is able to book services and enables the CLAS Clinic to be firmly based in the community.
CLAS provides an essential service for local people who would not normally have the financial means to access legal services of a comparable nature. It helps people with a variety of legal issues and, where necessary, refers the case to local solicitors or an appropriate agency.
For more information on the CLAS programme, read the full description on the Coventry Law School website.
