Glasgow Law School's graduate programme celebrates 90 years

University of Glasgow Law School logo2009 was a special year at the University of Glasgow Law School. The School’s graduate programme celebrated its 90th anniversary. Although the study of law at the University of Glasgow first started in 1451, the same year when the University itself was founded, in its modern form postgraduate legal education at Glasgow began in 1919. Since then a number of various graduate schemes have been set up and developed at the School. At present, the School offers five different LLM programmes with the average staff-to-student ratio of 1:3.5.

An internationally recognised leader in its field, the School boasts a total student body of over 1,000 students from more than 30 countries and a faculty of over 40 research-active staff which has been consistently rated as internationally excellent by the UK Research Assessment Exercise. Located in the heart of the University’s scenic Gilmorehill campus only a stone’s throw away from the trendy West End area – according to the Lonely Planet guide Glasgow is one of the top ten world cities to visit – the School provides an outstanding learning and research environment and offers, as part of its excellence recognition programme, a number of different scholarships for both home and international students.
