Growth in online LLM programmes leads to increasing options
With advances in modern technology and globalisation the world seems to be literally shrinking.... and this is becoming increasingly apparent in the world of postgraduate legal education – where the opportunity to study a Master of Laws programme wherever you want is becoming a more and more realistic option.
Nowadays more and more LLM programmes are available to study as an online or distance learning option, which means that you can choose to study at an institution of your choice, even if you don’t live in that country! This is great news if you have constraints be they financial, family or other that could prevent you from pursing an LLM of your choice in the country of your choice.
The Law Spirit School of Law at Beijing Foreign Studies University in China has just launched the first ever online LLM from a Chinese university which is a great option for those interested in working with Chinese companies from a legal perspective.
The Director of Law Spirit, Kimmy Wang, says, “With the growing Chinese economy and developing legal system, more and more international lawyers are doing business with China and looking to learn about Chinese law. Prior to these programs, an LLM in Chinese law required relocation to China for a period of two years which is very difficult for many busy professionals. These courses take advantage of the latest technology and allow students to take the courses part time, on their own terms.” Click here to find out more about the LLM programmes at Beijing Foreign Studies University.
Other law schools worldwide with impressive online and distance learning options include Queen Mary, University of London in England, the University of Strathclyde in Scotland and Florida Coastal School of Law in the United States.
