Kent Law Clinic has fulfilling partnership with Sierra Leone law clinic
Kent Law Clinic has an ongoing partnership with a law clinic in Sierra Leone to enhance the legal education of law students from both countries. This works particularly well because the laws in Sierra Leone have much in common with UK laws as both countries share legal procedure, case-law and statute.
As part of this partnership students at the Canterbury campus of the Kent Law Clinic recently sent nearly 400 second-hand law text books to their fellow students at the law clinic at the University of Makeni (UNIMAK) in Sierra Leone. Previously the Kent Law Clinic have been asked to help research legal points relating to criminal cases being defended by students and volunteer lawyers at UNIMAK.
Professor John Fitzpatrick, Director of the Kent Law Clinic, said the collaboration between Kent and UNIMAK has been an enriching experience.
