Lord Hope appointed professor of Strathclyde Law School

University of StrathclydeThe former Deputy President of the UK Supreme Court, Lord Hope of Craighead, was recently appointed Emeritus Professor at the Strathclyde Law School.

Lord Hope was the Chancellor at the University of Strathclyde for 15 years, between 1998 and 2013. His service to Strathclyde was recently recognised when the institution also awarded him an honorary doctorate degree.

Speaking about Lord Hope’s appointment, the Head of Strathclyde Law School, Professor Bryan Clark says, “It is a privilege and an honour that Lord Hope is joining us as an Emeritus Professor. He is truly an inspirational figure and I am sure he will have an enormous impact on the School in his new Emeritus position which shall be felt by staff, students, alumni and partners alike.”

Lord Hope explains, “The Strathclyde Law School has a very special character all of its own, which I have much admired. I have watched it grow from strength to strength during my time as Chancellor, and I am delighted that my long association with it will continue with this appointment."

The Head of Strathclyde’s Law School, Professor Clark, comments: “We hope to continue our journey as one of the UK’s leading Law Schools through Lord Hope’s wise counsel and contributions to a range of Law School activities.”

This new appointment will be marked with a formal event in the New Year.
