The challenges of being a modern lawyer

Northumbria UniversityIn today's rapidly growing economy, the legal profession is standing on shakier ground than ever before, and lawyers around the globe are being forced to constantly reinvent themselves and gain new skills to remain competitive. In the business-driven world, one of the core skills that lawyers need to acquire to maintain their competitiveness is core business knowledge.

Given this global trend, many employers are seeking those law graduates who, in addition to being skilled in their field, have core business skills. This requirement has been accepted as the new normal in the modern legal profession, making the need for lawyers to become more versatile than ever before.

To educate highly competitive modern lawyers, Northumbria Law School and Newcastle Business School of Northumbria University have recently partnered to introduce a new joint programme: MSc in Business with Legal Management.

The programme’s objective is to educate lawyers who know how to combine core business knowledge with their legal skills to make them more employable in the modern world of law. The course is taught by high-calibre solicitors who work in private practice and is suitable for recent law graduates or professional lawyers who want to update their CV.
