The College of Law and Dechert LLP enter an agreement

The College of LawDechert LLP, an international law firm with 26 offices across the globe and more than 800 attorneys, and the College of Law, a leading institution for legal education with centres across the UK, have entered an agreement that will enhance the cooperation between the two institutions.

As a part of the agreement, the College will become exclusive provider of education for Dechert's trainee solicitors, who will undertake the College's Professional Skills Course (PSC) and the recently announced International LPC from 2013. This LPC is amongst the first of its kind as it will focus on the legal service market on a global scale.

Besides entrusting the College to educate their future trainees, Dechert LLP have also become the first law firm to finance the College's newly introduced LL.B degree by offering a scholarship to one successful applicant each academic year starting in 2012. The Dechert College of Law LL.B scholarship will cover £3,000 of the full tuition fee (£9,000) for the first year of studies and includes a week of work experience at Dechert’s London office.

All the students who wish to be considered for the scholarship have to apply through the main College scholarship scheme and accept a place on the LL.B program. Here you can find more about LL.B scholarships available at the College of Law.

Dechert’s willingness to support our new program is the proof that they believe in its quality and the potential to educate the lawyers of the future.”  

The College of Law new LL.B program is unique because it focuses on employability and, compared to traditional 3-year degrees, has the duration of only two years which should help the students to save money on tuition fees and living costs.

The program launches this September at the College’s centres in Chester, Birmingham, London Bloomsbury, and Guildford and will launch at the York and Bristol centres in September next year.
