The Kent Law Clinic has been shortlisted in The Lawyer Awards
The Kent Law Clinic has been shortlisted for ‘Pro Bono Team of the Year’ in the Lawyer Awards, which are recognised as the premier legal awards in the UK.
The shortlists are dominated by high profile litigants, with teams from major City and international law firms - Kent Law Clinic is one of only a few public bodies to make the final selection.
Clinic Director John Fitzpatrick says, ‘We are delighted at this recognition. We put the work of our Immigration and Asylum Team at the heart of our submission. Clinic Solicitor Catherine Carpenter and a large team of students have been doing outstanding work in representing and supporting those in need in this area.’
Kent Law Clinic is a partnership between students, academics and local solicitors and barristers. As part of Kent Law School, Kent Law Clinic aims to enhance the legal education of students through their supervised provision of a public service for local people who need legal advice and representation but cannot afford to pay for it.
Kent Law Clinic has received numerous awards recognising its work, most recently having been awarded both a Queen’s Anniversary Prize and the Times Higher Education Award for 'Outstanding Contribution to the Local Community'.
The winners of the Lawyer Awards 2010 will be announced on the Tuesday 22nd June, with an awards ceremony at Grosvenor House, Park Lane, London.
