ULaw launches new scholarship scheme
The University of Law has introduced new ‘Law First’ scholarships awards to give high achieving law students a head start.
ULaw has launched this new scholarship scheme offering 74 awards valued at a total of £300,000. The ‘Law First’ scholarships range from £1,500 to £5,000 each and will be awarded to high achieving undergraduate and postgraduate students, starting in the 2014/15 academic year.
ULaw students on the undergraduate LLB degree programme have access to 20 ‘Law First’ scholarships worth £1,500 towards their first year fees, while 10 scholarships have been set aside for aspiring barristers on the Bar Professional Training Course (BPTC) and 20 for aspiring solicitors on the combined LLM/Legal Practice Course (LLM LPC), valued at £5,000 each. 24 scholarships worth £3,000 are available to students doing the Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL.) Top notch GDL students may also be awarded a further £2,000 towards their LLM LPC or BPTC.
The President of ULaw, Professor Nigel Savage, explains, “Every year the UK legal services sector contributes over £26.8bn to the UK economy so it is essential that the very best students enter the profession to secure the sector’s growth. ULaw has created these scholarship awards to attract the very best students to the profession, and support them with their fees.”
The ‘Law First’ scholarship scheme brings to 95 the total number of scholarships offered by ULaw, with a total value of nearly £400,000!
