University of Law gets prestigious award
The University of Law’s Student Employability Programme (StEP) has been recognised by the Association of Graduate Recruiters (AGR) as the ‘Best Preparation for Work Initiative.’ This ten-step programme especially for aspiring lawyers won the award in the Higher Education category of the AGR’s Development Awards 2013.
The AGR’s Development Awards aim to recognise best practice in graduate development and are judged by graduate development professionals from a wide range of sectors, including university careers services.
Director of Employability at The University of Law, Rachel Harris, says: “I'm absolutely delighted that the emphasis we place on employability, and our commitment to providing detailed, specialist guidance to anyone interested in a career in law, has received this recognition. The judges were particularly impressed that this wealth of information is freely accessible to all.”
StEP is available on the University of Law’s Future Lawyers Network website and can be accessed for free by anyone who registers on the site. It provides information on 24 practice areas and includes video clips from legal professionals, case studies, presentations, online workshops, resource books, activities and FAQs. The programme also provides guidance on researching recruiters, completing application forms and preparing for interviews and assessments.
The University of Law was previously known as The College of Law and was granted its university title at the end of last year.
